Leave after payday, get new documents, re-enter Korea. You are not a slave. |

That can work unless the visa is not cancelled then...oups no new visa until it does.
Now OP, unless they have been late with pay or broke contract clauses (working OT is not abuse by the way, especially if they are short staffed) you can very well give your notice and quit. Follow the contract rules for terminating your employment.
If they have been dodgy with you then its another issue but if not, consider the run after payday will also leave your co-workers holding the bag of crap you leave behind as you run.
They cannot blacklist you from Korea but if your visa is not cancelled, you will not be issued a new one or will not be able to transfer your current visa and hence will not be able to work legally.
Maybe TTom can confirm or correct the information about. |

The only thing I'm worried about is "persona-non-grata" or whatever it is. Any kind of nationwide file about me breaking a contract or banning me from getting new visas or anything like that. Does anyone know about that? |
There's no such thing. As said before, you're not a slave and it's not illegal to quit your job with 0 notice. Immigration won't bat an eye. |

The main problem is just that it's very unpleasant working there. The manager is very rude. We're actually not really doing any overtime, though when we do we of course don't get paid for it. Instead we're just expected to simultaneously do insane amounts of work during the day. Like magically do 5 things at once when there's literally not enough time allotted for it.
Coworkers? Screw em. I'm a pillar at that place. I kind of want to just leave and watch it collapse. They're treating me like shit. That's not really a contract violation, I've been paid so far, it's just miserable. |
OP, your manager is overbearing and pain in the ass. That's entirely believable insofar as hakwon dynamics go.
But then you say your co-workers can go to blazes as well, and say "They're treating me like shit", which must indicate the manager being not alone on your case.
My advice to you is to hang in.
Don't let the tail wag the dog... sort the asshole manager out! Make the job suit you, not you the job. This is a great opportunity for you to smoke out your problem areas and be better all-round for your next gig. |

The worst part is, there just seems to be no recognition of all the work I'm doing. |
I'm absolutely certain you're doing all you can....but doesn't mean you're home and dry.
If skills thusfar acquired aren't yet the full quid, then you can find yourself on probation, even unto yourself.
Why don't you use this place to round off the odd rough edge? |

If your visa is not cancelled, you will have to wait for it to expire before a new one can be issued (unless things have changed).
Now, I find it odd that management AND all your co-workers are so negatively portrayed here. Workplace problems tend to surface due to each side (management and staff) having part of the responsibility.
If all it is is that you dislike the work environment, then you have no justification to pull a runner and can give notice and quit like the pillar you say you are. You can always pull a runner if you want, but no one will tell you its all good and nothing will happen. Odds are your visa will be cancelled by your then former employer but it may not be.
Blacklist you? Very unlikely unless you owe them a substantial amount of money (high unpaid bills for example).
All up to you and in the end, best of luck to you. |

My understanding is if you have an ARC you can just hand that in at the airport on your way out. |

Really? Did the laws change? I thought before you would have to leave Korea for at least as long as your visa would have lasted. Or in some cases you're permanently banned and can't come back at all. Don't you get reported if you leave a contract with no notice?
[/quote]
Nope. Immigration doesn't care. Again, you're not a slave and you're not required by law to uphold the contract. You can return as soon as you get new docs and get a new visa issued. The fact that you have ran (or will have) only matters for people trying to get EPIK jobs, and people who have been deported or arrested in Korea.
For all Immigration cares, you can get a new set of docs, hand in your arc, pull a runner to the closest island, and then come back to Korea and submit new documents for a visa on the same day as you cancelled your last one. Immigration doesn't care about past visa sponsors, only the present and future ones. |

Well then things may have changed because just leaving the country does always not cancel your E2 visa.
Anyway, good luck. |

I don't necessarily advocate for the MNR but if it is necessary then:
1) leave Korea.
2) hand in your ARC at your departure. This DOES cancel your status of sojourn and will enable you to return as a tourist (now or later) and apply for a new visa.
Failure to hand in your ARC means that your visa won't be canceled and you will have to wait out the remainder of your contract.
3) IF you do a MNR you probably will also need a full set of apostilled documents again to begin a new job.
4) UNLESS you commit some crime you won't be blacklisted at immigration.
5) You may be (illegally) blacklisted at the local hagwan association. It won't matter if you plan to return unless you want to work in the same area.
