So apparently I am moving to Andong mid-December. Anyone lived there or had any experiences there. Did some web searches on it and found the usual government generated crap but would like some honest opinions on it. |

It's a relatively small town, but has some of the more interesting cultural attractions of the country, as well as some excellent food. That said, you'll probably find yourself wanting to go up to Seoul a couple times a month. |

If you like outdoor and cultural activities and you get a car or a motorcycle you will have a great time in Andong. The town itself is very "country" but there are some interesting places outside it. Kyungju is always touted as the cultural heart of Korea but after a few visits to both I enjoyed Andong more. The interesting parts are a pain to access by bus so you're going to want some sort of transportation.
If you just want to hang out in your town and enjoy nightlife and "western" style living you won't like it. |

I've only visited, but it was a nice enough town. I don't think I could spend a whole year there though.
It's fairly close to Daejeon and Daegu (about an hour bus ride if I remember right) so if you ever need a bit more excitement, it's not too far away. |
