|
|
Hi I purchased a large traditional korean painting in a really solid frame and i have another framed print i want to ship home.
I posted all my other stuff back. Maybe this is too big to mail or ems.
I wonder if anyone has shipped this kind of thing back and has any suggestions?
Thanks in advance... |

this link might be helpful for packing your paintings. foam , bubble wrap , newspaper , cardboard.. lots of protection!

How big are they anyways? and is there a glass front?
If its somewhat big and theres glass involved.. I would forget about shipping. Unless you're willing to pay a crap load of money to have a company build you a custom crate box with special foam padding inside and hiring a shipping company who deals with this kind of delicate things. $$$$$$$$$
No glass involved , I would just just pack it tightly like the above link and ship it by EMS or Fedex or UPS . should be safe. Although depending ont he size.. could be pricey still =p |

I've shipped two largish paintings back home. Go to the main Post Office near Myeong-dong. Can't miss it; the building looks like this:
http://www.worldinprint.com/r2/seoul_central_post_office_building_myeong-dong_myeongdong_seoul_south_korea_asia/print/3767475.html
If you directly face the post office, to your left will be a two story building filled with shops. On the second level are a bunch of shipping stores. They will wrap up your paintings very, very professionally with a ton of foam and cardboard. I believe the cost was something like 30,000 won for the packaging alone. Then they will help you with the mailing process from there. |

thanks for the excellent advice
one painting is 79 cm wide and 78 cm high almost a perfect square. while the other is 47 cm wide and 95 cm high.
i'm wondering if they are too big to post or ems?
on the larger one i will take the glass out this should take most of the weight out of it and reduce the chance of damage |
