I have booked a very cheap ticket to manila in Feb, which was half the price of other airline or destinations in SE Asia. Why are they so cheap? I'm a bit of a nervous flyer sometimes so I'm not sure if I should reconsider and book with a bigger airline..

They are a bus service in the air.

No frills, no free food or drinks.
Bun-wiches are 50 pesos each as are coffee, soft drinks and beer.

Luggage is limited to 15kg. If you got the cheapest ticket then there is no checked luggage and hand carry is limited to 7kg.

There are minimal services, no changes or refunds to your tickets (it would cost you more to change than to just rebook and pay again), no frequent flier miles and no frills at check-in or on-board (no pillows or blankets unless you want to buy one).

Otherwise they are OK.

I have flown about 22 times on them and have no major complaints.
They have modern equipment (a319s/320s), are reasonably well maintained (comparable to anything else in Asia), are usually on time arriving (85%) and the flight attendants are nice.

because they are a budget airline. these types of airlines are normally good for people traveling on a budget and/or younger folks. there are no business or first class seats, it's all cattle class. then they nickel and dime you for everything. food, comfort kits, any checked in luggage, emergency aisle seats (they have bit more leg room), selecting your seat no matter where it is, etc. etc.

if you are doing short haul flights, don't care about mileage, have no lounge privileges on any airlines or alliances, don't care about what class you fly, don't care about getting charged for individual things a la carte style that you might take for granted on a major airline, and they fly to your destination, then it's not too bad on the wallet, although it's not an ideal traveling environment.

Ya, but unlike the north American (West Jet, Southwestern) or European carriers (like RyanAir) the a-la-carte items don't break the bank either.

Sandwiches/croissants, coffee, soft drinks or beer for $1/item.
Extra luggage at booking for about $1/kilo.
$2 for use of a credit card rather than cash.

What they advertise that they don't have are: paper tickets, free food, flier miles, lounges, or free newspapers. It is a short haul flight from Korea to the Phils (4 hours or less depending on the destination) so really, who needs any of it.

I use this carrier all the time and have no problems save the occasional delayed arrival or departure (which isn't that often).

I bought a roundtrip ticket to Manila next year around the Chuseok period for 76,000 won. I can do without meals and other stuff for that price.

I really like Cebu Pacific. I feel that they offer a good service for the price and are not trying to rip u off all the time like Ryanair in Europe. They are basically a bus, but I appreciate the games and stuff as at least they are trying a little to keep the customers happy

Personally, I've always found them to be good about leaving and arriving on time. Most of all I like the fact they fly at night which means arriving in Manila when its cooler and no traffic. They also offer a red-eye flight back to Korea. For a third of the cost of other airlines I don't really care that they don't offer free food or amenities. With the money I save I can bring my own. Its less than a four hour flight.

I love Cebu Pacific. Yes, small seats, but the attendants are always very kind. you can buy food for a low price.

Is it worth spending several hundred more for leg room?

After those long buses in rural SE Asia, Cebu Pacific is fabulous.

Cheap and full of delays. Had terrible turbulence too which felt worse due to the plane being tiny. Good if u want cheap flights, but be prepared for delays / cancellations

And how is a A319/320 tiny? Only compared to a long haul bus (A330-340).

It is the same as the B737 in terms of size. A typical airbus.
IF you want tiny try SEAirs LET 410s for your island hopping.

AS to delays... yes.. last month their on-time performance was only about 72%.

Cebu Pacific is awesome. I can deal with the delays since they are not that late (my last flight with them was half an hour late to depart but it was fine). For the deals they offer, they are awesome.

I was on their flight a matter of hours ago returning to Korea, and it's hard to complain. Even though I paid a premium for my tickets due to my own indecision making and my, literally, day before the flight ticket purchase, you can't beat a cheap RT option to such a cheap and scenic country like the Philippines. Especially, when it allows you the chance to escape dead dreary Korea, if only for a week or so. Definitely a bit cramped at the knees and void of freebees, but let's be real.

People who live/work in Korea should rejoice that they have an option to be chauffeured to and from a tropical island paradise for around $200, and at times as low as $60 (?), depending on how early they book it. I mean, I paid almost three times the former amount and I still can't complain. I've taken budget carriers in Europe and other parts of Asia, Cebu Pacific is fairly standard, and these cheap options are things to be praised.

I was thinking about it earlier. Personally, I'm ridiculous with money: I found an Italian restaurant run by Italians that served a giant 350 peso pizza that I could only eat a little more than half of, yet I ordered it while dining alone twice. 300 peso pasta dinners were also the norm. In addition, I ordered the full out All American breakfast every single morning, and I boozed it every night. Still, strangely, I never stepped foot in a taxi and took 8-20 peso buses around, plus two 300 peso ferry trips. In total, I spent less than $400, $80 of which I blew in a casino in Manila on my last night. The *Nipa* hut was $15/night.

$500-$600 for a week including airfare is fantastic and I plan to Cebu Pacific it up the next time I get a week off. I don't know why anyone wouldn't, given they have the time. Being reminded that life can also be stranger-friendly, easy going, green, tropical, sunny, comprised of people who can actually speak English, full of positive energy, and not so insecurely mono-cultural, should be equally as important as money. I'm a full supporter of Cebu Pacific. I read the entire airline issue out of sheer boredom, no crossword puzzle is lame, but I still want to say that the airline deserves a solid endorsement for prices and regional accessibility alone.
