WITHOUT haggling him for a discount.
Hiya
Some fella on craigslist claims the above so off I went to Yongsan. The best deal I could get on 32inch was a non LG/Samsung for 400,000. Am I looking in the wrong places or is this fella telling porkies ????
Is there a specific building in Yongsan to look - i found a few places but there werent as many as I expected......

The sort answer is yes. The long answer is no.
It is possible to get a brand name TV in Yongsan for 380k, but there's a catch. The first thing is, you need to have a Korean credit card. The second thing is, some of the the card companies offer savings plans for certain items, which you need to sign a contract for. The deal works like this; lets say you want a 300k discount on a 680k TV , just like the 380k that guy mentioned. You would need to sign a contract with the credit card company saying that you will spend 300k on your credit card every month, from certain selected retailers, for the next 3 years. On top of that, you will pay interest on the amount of money you got discounted from your original purchase for the length of the contract. If you do the math on this, you end up paying more in interest than you originally saved. This type of deal is for people who only think of the here and now, and not about the future.
ttompatz, the link you provided on gmarket has no 32' brand name TV for even under 500k. The one on the top, which I would assume is the TV you are referring to, has a Samsung Panel, but the rest of the TV is off-brand.
If you want a 32" in Korea, you have to pay at least 500k, and that's if you are lucky. |

What kind of 40" did you get for 550,000 if I may ask? I was just in the market for a TV but paid that amount for a 32". |

As others have said, 500,000 is more realistic.
I just got a 43" Samsung 3DTV for 790,000 from Gmarket. That included two pairs of glasses. The same set was about 1,000,000 in Emart/Homeplus. |
