I've seen old people in the market selling "ddong gae" puppies for as low as 10,000 won. That's probably cheaper than any dog rental service and it's a puppy. When you're done with it you can probably go back to the market and give/sell it back. |

Kinda hard to not get bogged down. Dogs are loyal to their pack. Go to a shelter and volunteer. It's free. |

Please, humor me and tell me why it is that you want to 'rent' a dog?
Sorry, know you asked for no lectures, but you do know that dogs are living animals right? They deserve to be treated well and loved and not treated like property. |

I see some merit in dog rental.
1. You have animal shelters with dogs in cages inside all day long. Isn't it more humane to "rent" them out to people that will walk them and take them outside for awhile?
2. Proceeds to Dog Rental can go right back to an animal shelter
3. People rent the dog, fall in love with it, and decide to adopt it.
What reason do you have against dog rental? Some people can't have a dog at home. Maybe the family member is allergic. Maybe the parents object to it. Maybe the place is jsut so small that it wouldn't be fair to the dog to raise it there.
If a person is willing to pay money to "rent" a dog, and that money is going towards giving the dog a roof over its head, food, and water then how is that bad? I'd think tahts much better than putting them to sleep. (aka KILLING THEM). |

What happens if your rented dog bites an old lady in the park? Who is in trouble, the rental company or you? What if it dies in your custody? Dog rental sounds like a terrible idea. I used to be a volunteer pet socializer in the US. Basically, I went to the shelter and played with the animals there in order to get them exercise, outside, and used to being with humans. That way they can get adopted. After they leave the shelter there are just far too many things that could go wrong with liability. |

I hope this is a joke. If by some chance you're serious, OP, please don't rent an animal. Look for volunteering and fostering opportunities if you want to help an animal and spend time with him/her but can't make a permanent commitment. |

Hey, that's a great idea. I bet I could meet some women in the park, and then I could just return the dog after one bites...I mean a woman becomes interested |

How is it ok to rent a monkey, a donkey, or some other animal and its not ok to rent a dog?
What is it about dogs anyways? I like animals, but I don't see why dogs have to have this preferential treatment over other mammals.
Double Standards. |

Who said those things were OK? (That's a rhetorical question, BTW ... I don't plan on devoting enough time to this disgusting website to carry on a conversation.) |

I remember a Queer Eye for the Straight Guy episode where they gave some dude a Golden Lab puppy and had him stand in front of a department store.
He didn't approach a single girl, just stood with the puppy and got around 10 phone numbers in 30 minutes. |

But isn't so obvious why dogs have become so close to our hearts (and in Korea, our stomachs -)?
However long our association with dogs has gone on, we have altered them radically, bred for tameness, selected the ones that paid attention to us. Monkeys and donkeys - well I just don't know...adult dogs are incredibly sensitive to human social cues.
Dogs are very sensitive to gestures, such as pointing, and are very good at finding hidden food when we point to it, something no other animal can do. Their facility at reading our emotions is just unbelievable... If you've ever had a dog, you would know that don't have to tell our dog whether we've have had a good day or not. |

i read an article about it being popular in tokyo and wondered if an enterprising south korean had done the same...
i didnt say i wanted to rent a dog-- hence my not wanting to get bogged down in a dog lovers vs bo-sin tang lovers type debate...
didnt mean to rattle the cage, so to speak |
