I am researching the prospect of shipping furniture/ household goods from Korea to my home country. I am weighing up whether or not it is cheaper to ship everything I own home, or just to ditch it and buy up anew when I get resettled.

For those of you with families and a substantial amount of household items who have relocated to other countries, how did you go about it?

Does anyone have experience with international movers or hiring shipping containers?

There is a lot of info online, and I have sought some professional quotes; however, I would appreciate hearing about some personal accounts and/ or recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

I was taling to some agents from Hyundai shipping, and they said that an entire container shipped to Halifax was around 7 million won.

I shipped 7 cubic meters of furniture and stuff home. It cost me 2 mil for them coming and packing everything and delivering it to my door in Toronto. For me it was worth it as I had a tv, lazy boy and sofa, leather office chair, and much more. You need to do a tally of whether selling than repurchasing is worth it. For me, the 2 mil was well worth it.

www.cil.co.kr They had a Gyopo come and do the sales pitch and assessment. I had other companies offer cheaper, but I was really pleased with their setup.

Paid a shipping company for 2K, that bought us half of a 40 foot container on a cargo ship.
