I did a visa run to Bangkok last week, so I thought I'd give some information about it. I wrote ahead, which was lucky because the embassy only accepts visa applications from 1:30 to 3:30. Also, they required a copy of your passport information page, your passport, your visa issuance number, and a passport photo. I had to wait around for about 45 minutes or so before I could turn my info in, so you should get there early.

Turn around was one day. Pickup is between 10:30 and 11:30 the following day.

The address is:

23 Thiam-Ruammit Rd., Ratchadapisek,
Huay_Kwang, Bangkok 10320

Email: [email protected]

My guesthouse wrote the address in Thai for me and the several taxi drivers I used were able to find the embassy pretty easily.

Taxi's cost about 80 baht from the Siam Square area and about 120 baht from the Khao Sarn Road area. It is a bit more back to the Khao Sarn area (used the tollway which costs 40 baht but saves half an hour in Bangkok traffic).

Finally, it cost 1,440 baht for the multi-entry E-2 visa.

I would like to know this also. Did you not have to go to your home country for an interview.

Thanks for the info! I'll be doing a visa run there at the end of next month and was a bit worried about finding the embassy but it sounds like it quite easy. cheers!

I was just changing jobs...I had E2's in the past, so no interview.

I was back in the States in January and got my criminal record report. I did a state level report and got it apostilled. It was accepted without question by immigration and I received my visa issuance number in about 2 weeks.

I have learned (second hand) that the U.S. Embassy will not do apostilles so get that done back in the states.

Finally, be careful with Thai Air because it was mentioned in the Bangkok Post that they were planning to increase their fuel subsidy fee on tickets in the next couple of weeks, so I imagine Thai and all other airlines will be increasing their ticket prices fairly substantially.

Has anyone done the visa run to Bangkok recently? Planning on doing one next month and would like to know if it's still as straightforward/fast as in the past.

Cheers

I doubt if anything has changed. You get a one month transit visa on entry by airplane to Thailand. Make sure immigration says your documents are in order before you make the trip here to Thailand. The embassies take the applications in the mornings and you pick them up the following day in the afternoon. The embassies are closed on Thai holidays so check the websites and be aware of the holidays.

Stay at the Atlanta Hotel it's cheap and convenient and very nice and well respected by expats. You will want to make a reservation. Here is the phone number. (66) 2-2526069 or you can fax the reservation in at (66) 2- 6568124. Overhead Fan rooms are around $15 US a night and the fans right now are more than sufficient for the heat. It's located on Sukhamvit Soi 2 all the way to the end of the street. The Taxis will know that location easily.
