I believe you can actually hire someone in other countries to come out and set up your stuff from Ikea if you have are having trouble/don't want to do it. I remember them having a helpline.

And nothing wrong with setting up a delivery service. More people will take public transit to get there, no taking a book shelf home on the subway.

Yeah, this is standard for urban Ikeas (though the wait on delivery at the Montreal one was always absurd, something like two weeks or a month).
