|
|
Hi all,
So I've recently read that GEPIK etc. require the original reference letters, rather than a photocopy. This would be very difficult for me, seeing as the reference letters I received from my referees were emailed to me. Also, I'm working on my application from abroad, so if I were to ask for the original letters it may take awhile to even get them.
Can anyone tell me whether this is definitely the case and if not whether a photocopy is acceptable? |

I've read that you need to show them the real thing. I do have a solution if the person emailed you a reference letter, whether it's moral is up to you.

The 'solution' is forgery. Not really moral.
If the reference letter writers ever find out they probably wouldn't be too happy. |

Hence why I said it was up to OP. The writers of my reference letters understood that I needed a real signature but weren't able to mail me the originals but said it was alright for me to sign it. OP certainly doesn't need to take my advice but I just threw it out there regardless. You know, just so I don't make unnecessary waves, I'll even get rid of it. |

I'm in a similar situation, compounded by the fact that I've been told it's not customary for either of my referees to let me 'handle' the reference in any way - it'll need to be sent directly (I don't know if that's a UK thing or just my referees thinking I'm a fraud lol). But to whom? And would this even be acceptable?
Anyone have some suggestions? |

I've never heard this. The most I assumed was, like the transcripts, it needed to come in a sealed envelope. But even that hasn't been verified. I know for certain that it has to be on letterhead, ink signature, and don't forget the writer's information (email, phone number, fax, etc.)! I think other than that everything else is pretty moot. |
