Hi everyone. I'm moving to Daegu to teach on the 26th of February. My last paycheck from the States won't be given out until the first of March. I don't have direct deposit so I'm going to have it sent to me through the mail. Will I have any problems cashing an American check or is there any other problems I should anticipate? I appreciate the help. |

Here's what I would do: Get a deposit slip from your bank, give it to your manager and have them drop it/mail it to your bank when it arrives. Problem solved. |

What zombiedog says will work, or if your manager can't do that see if you can find a trusted friend or relative that you can sign the check over to.
A Korean bank will be able to deposit the check for you, but it will take weeks, there will be expensive fees, currency conversion, and it will likely be a hassle because it's not something the bank employees deal with often. Better to take care of it in the states if at all possible. |
