I couldn't be happier about this.
1. Efficient production would reduce the cost of grain, reducing starvation.
2. A handful of donor cattle would supply the stem cells, dramatically reducing the suffering of animals.
3. Factory conditions would make both antibiotics and growth hormones completely unnecessary.
4. Blending meat/fat at will could make for a much healthier meal.
5. It can't taste worse than what they sell at Lotteria.

I barely eat any meat anymore. It's just not healthy, especially when you're getting close to middle-age.

Depends on what you eat and how much of it. It isn't like its all octogenarians are vegetarians...

I didn't say I'm a vegan. I barely eat any meat because it's fattening and raises my cholesterol. I feel much healthier now that I've changed my main sources of protein.

Meat grown in the laboratory could have several advantages, because its manufacture is controlled at each step. The tissue could be grown to produce high levels of healthy polyunsaturated fatty acids, or to have a particular texture.

Because the burgers are made from animal stem cells, researchers could make products from more exotic animals. "We could make panda meat, I'm sure we could," Post said.

Didn't know panda burger was a desired commodity Smile (also not sure how they'd plan to check for authenticity of taste of those rare critters, less they're thinking of cloning and eatin' em)
