That's fine. When I was an active pro I sparred 4-6 rounds, twice a week. Stamina won't be an issue for you if you fight when you want to fight, and rest when you need to (with your hands up, out of range or too close to be hit clean).
When I say "rest when you need to", that doesn't necessarily mean when you get tired! You have to rest often, even before you get tired. That's the control you need to have. That's the control that rookies lack, but if you keep it in mind, you'll be a little ahead of them. I'll tell you something; when I was fighting, I had my wife at ringside yelling "relax", and "hands up" throughout the fight, at random. If I was already relaxed, or my hands were already up, it was still nice to hear. It really helped, and I suggest you get someone to do that for you.
If you haven't started tapering-off your work-outs, ease-up on the training from now until Sunday. Keep your jogs light. Talk to you soon. |

I always thought of that as fighting at your pace. Makes a huge difference cardio wise fighting when and how you want to. I only have one gear, forward so it makes a little simpler for me.

| I never wrap and the gloves are super old and falling apart. They are the smaller, less padded kind (not MMA but still small). I didn't think it was that important and I thought I could tough it out, but over time I'm feeling a difference. I'm not serious about it but I guess it's time to upgrade. |
Definitely wrap man. There are plenty of videos on youtube that teach you how. You can also get a decent pair of bag gloves for pretty cheap. Like 30-40,000ish. |

Hey guys. Update on the Rookie Boxing tournament. The Preliminary bouts are over and the semi finals will be on next Thursday and Friday (March 8-9). The venue will be still held in Jeonbuk but this time, MBC (not MBC Sports) will air the event live.
Some of you might interested to know that a foreigner named Michael (no idea of last name) will be fighting in the super middleweight division. As for me, I lost a close split decision in a brawl. I landed hard shots and rocked him once, but he landed more shots. I think the decision was fair and I have no regrets. It was a good experience that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Maybe I'll do it again.
Fortunately, a fellow team mate did win his fight so my gym will represent again next week. |

Thanks for the update. Too bad about the loss. Losing a split decision in a brawl isn't bad, though. Most important is that you have no regrets. |

It's all a learning experience. I'm definitely going to fight again. I want to have at least one win if I want to call myself a boxer. I might possibly enter the Rookie Tournament next year in a smaller weight class.
I'll make a thread about it when the time comes, but one of the fighters from my gym (#1 ranked in Korea) will be fighting for the OPBF Title in May against the current Filipino Champion. He was supposed to be fighting for the National Title but is going to skip it go straight to being the champ in this part of the world. Also, the word is there is going to be a female World Title match in Korea in the coming months. |
