I am looking a things to do while I am in Korea. Geoje island looks beautiful. From what I can tell, the ferry to Geoje leaves from Mason. A few questions: How far is it to Masan from Jinhae and how far offshore is Geoje island from Jinhae? How long is the ferry ride to Geoje island?

I think ferry service was cancelled after the bridge linking Geoje and Busan was completed last December. You can take the bus from Masan to Geoje.

No reason to go to Masan.
The ferry does run from Jinhae ~4x/day with the last ferry leaving around 5pm.
It takes just under an hour to get there.
It's an auto ferry too, so if you have a car or bike you can take it with you.
As for costs: I think it's 5,000/person, 6,000/motorbike and 10,000/car all one way.
The ferry dock in Jinhae is at the northwest corner of the main water front. Sorry I don't know the name of the specific dong.

The point on Geoje where it drops you off is in a rather rural area about 15km from Gohyeon so if you don't know someone on the island or have your own transportation, it may be difficult getting around. Geoje is beautiful. It's a great place to go explore for a day if you do have wheels. There are some decent beaches as well.

When you arrive in Koje, walk up to the main road where you can catch a local bus to the main bus terminal. From there you can take buses anywhere. Example, there's a boat landing where you can take a short trip over to another island, Oedo ("way-do"). It was developed into a tropical garden before a huge storm hit some years ago, but I've heard it's been rebuilt. Also, there's the prisoner of war camp dating back to the Korean war.
