So, there is a competition for foreigners living in Korea to enter!
The top prize is a car (korean i ll have you know)
Foreigners are asked to submit a video describing their reasons for loving Korea!

I wonder what the lovable rogues who spit n spat on Dave's come up with..
Best of luck to those that enter..

LOL. "co-sponsored by Arirang tv." Very Happy Very Happy Shocked

We should send in videos of a 'tongue in cheek" nature and see which one wins. Example:

"I love Korea because it keeps me on my toes. When I try to use a crosswalk the threat to my safety posed by motor vehicles inspires me to dash across - sometimes literally leaping out of the way of oncoming cars and auto-bikes. Without this element of danger I would just stroll across the crosswalk chomping on a bag of potato chips. As a grossly overweight English teacher I truly needed this exercise. The adrenaline rush also helps raise my metabolism. I've lost four kilos since coming to Korea. Now I can enter my English classroom without turning sideways. Thank you Korea."

Lots of guys have come here to work as 3D workers in order to save money to start a successful business in their home country or put their kids through university, some of whom became doctors and lawyers. Unless you've got a feelgood story like that to tell, your odds of winning are pretty slim I would think.

i love korea because it has made me realize that living in a western country and paying high taxes is far better than living in Seoul and having to put up with stupidity that lifers and apologists excuse by calling "cultural differences."

I love Korea because it makes you so miserable. The more miserable you are the happier I am.

Word. I'm getting drunk at Incheon airport right now, about to tack country 48 (I believe) onto the list. So happy for a change. "Cultural differences" is about the most stretched justification you could hear when it comes to Korea. Most of the cultural issues here are NOT truly relative, they're bizarre societal malfunctions. Which inevitably become self-justified protective armor for those who, in most cases, haven't seen very much of the world, or have high stakes in the matter. I've never been to a country quite as strange as this one.

The only thing I really "love" is my cake job and the women. But to each his own.

The Arirang TV sponsorship is funny, too. Talk about propaganda, but propaganda aimed at English speakers... I figured that racket out immediately.

"You guys like KPOP, right? And traditional Korean culture? And economic development? How about our landscape??? Nice, right?? Right???"

... I feel like the Ministry needs a hug. From the heart.

I love Korea because it gives me a laugh reading Dave's and watching apologists try to defend it to new foreigners as they come and go year after year.

Yearly new crop of foreigners: MAN THIS SUCKS!

Same old life-long Dave's apologists... same old return comments.

I love the Korean traditional culture that isn't rammed down our throats. I love the smiles from my students, the discussions with present and former co-teachers, and my friends I met in interesting ways.

Since they asked people to make a video about how much they love Kpop, I doubt this contest is to be taken seriously.

Why would that be tongue-in-cheek?

I know plenty of morbidly obese ESL teachers, and some of them have indeed some lost weight in Korea.

You have again missed the point.

I'm not defending Korea. It can be tough here for people. It can make people miserable. If it was as easy to live here as where you came from then there wouldn't be as many opportunities to make obscene amounts of money. When people stop complaining about how tough it is, that's when it's time to look elsewhere for real growth potential. Hopefully I'll retire before that happens here.

The thing that the "haters" never get is that reward is ALWAYS inversely proportional to risk. Those that want to have an easy, risk free, and secure existence really should just avoid Korea.

Appologist, indeed.

I love Korea because it gives me a laugh reading Dave's and watching whiners blindly deny facts and attempt to speak not only for the majority of teachers but also foreigners.

The number of foreigners LIVING and working in Korea continues to grow yearly (about 3% now). The vast majority are not even teachers and most come from different countries than NETs yet whiners egocentrically claim to speak for them.
