I've heard that lots of e-2 and other visa holders are being asked to go in for fingerprinting, but I haven't received notice at all! My CBC had fingerprints included... could that be the reason? Should I be worried? |

On your next visit to immigration (extension, change of status, file update, change of address, etc) they will take a digital set of prints and a digital photo of you.

Don't they already do that at the airport when you enter the country? What's the point of doing it again? |

On Feb 13th, when I entered, I certainly was fingerprinted at the airport. I would have made a surly looking photo as well. |

I left and re-entered the country 3 times since January and was fingerprinted and photographed each time. They didn't want to see my ARC. They don't seem interested in that ID card anymore.
I can't help but question the logic of requiring additional photos and fingerprints when they already have them. |

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe they are using facial recognition software to confirm your identity. It appears this is going to standard every time you leave and come back into Korea.
I left in the fall and came back in January and had to do that for the first time. I was expecting it so it wasn't a surprise. |

Whole process is really slowing up those immigration lines also.
Took me two hours to get into the country at Incheon last month. |

Yeah, it was ridiculous. For me, there were only three lines open for all the foreigners, and five or so for the Koreans. The Koreans were through in about 15 seconds each, and after a while, all the Korean lanes were empty. Another plane arrived and all those Koreans went through, and THEN they decided, oh, we better open up some more lanes for the waygook - so all those who were at the back of the lines from the second plane got to go to the front of a new queue, and I was stuck in the middle, waiting painfully.
Can't believe you have to do it each time. Surely they are going to introduce a lane for those with ARC cards? |
