Got mine in Friday and it's fantastic. Doing anything at a regular distance, the screen is incredible. Coming from a first generation iPad this thing is noticeable faster and smoother all around. Hands down worth the upgrade.

I'm waiting to activate my 3G service, but that should go as planned

Do you mind telling me where you got yours from? Did you bring it into Korea from abroad?

I ordered it online from the US and had it shipped to my parents house with the plan of having them ship it to me after it arrived, but my Mom was going to visit a couple of day later (unknowingly) so she just brought it with her.

For anyone that cares, I got 3G service activated on the new iPad, so it's possible. You have to get and print a certificate from ekcc.go.kr (all Korean) and show it to the people at the store. For those of you with smart phones on KT(Ollieh) look into getting a "Data sharing" plan on yournipad cost 3000won extra a month and depending on your phone plane it's 750MB a month or higher.

What about the LTE service? Does the 4G work in Korea? I know in Australia the Ipad is not compatible with that country's LTE network and there are news article about it everywhere.

The network bands that are used in the US for LTE with AT&T and Verizon are both incompatible with the network bands used in Korea. 3G seems like the only wy to go for now.

I wonder if they are delaying the Ipad 3 release in Korea so they can modify it to work on the Korean LTE network.

Seeing as how anal Korean communication commission is about their regulations, it wouldn't surprise me if they won't sign off on the new Ipad until it meets Korean network standards.

I think it's going to be sold here sooner than later. I was at an apple reseller here and got a screen protector placed on an iphone and noticed a display sign standing behind the service guy in the back (a sign that sits on a silver stand they would place on the floor as you walk in). It was for the new iPad. The guy said he didn't know when it would be sold in Korea, but when I asked "next month?," he said "probably".

If the international launch is anything to go by they might not be modifying the LTE for certain countries. I think when it launched in Australia (or New Zealand?) the LTE was incompatible.

Tech Question: Does an LTE phone/tablet work with a 3G contract? I'm annoyed by the lack of a flat rate/unlimited plan since (a) I can hardly get the maximum speed out of the 3G network and (b) I'm already very close to 3-4 GB/month on my unlimited plan, so there's a good chance that I'll overuse the 5GB/month max data on the current LTE data plans.

I haven't seen any 3G/unlimited plans for LTE devices yet.

PS: A lot of my data is from photo uploads and audio book downloads (Audible). The latter work extremely well on the phone (SGS) at 100-200 kBps, mediocre on WiFi (10-20 kBps) and abysmal over the Audible PC app (<10 kBps), a rather silly arrangement.

I am not sure if I understand this right, but even if I have an iPhone and an iPad which works in Korea, will it not work to move the sim-card from the iPhone to the iPad and use 3g on the iPad? It sounds like they have locked the simcard to the phone, but I haven't tested it myself, so I would like to hear from somebody who actually know how things are.

Still no Flash support..

Can we please please PLEASE stop saying this? I own 0 Apple products right now and I HATE Flash! Apple was right to drop it and people like you say stupid things like this, implying that it might be considered in the future. Even Adobe is killing it off, why bring it up?

Like it or hate it (which a lot of people do), Flash is still a major component in internet usage. What's the harm in giving you the option as Android users have?

I am very happy that Apple do not support flash simply because it forces websites to adapt. Likewise it forces websites to stop using ActiveX. Mobile devices seems like the main reasons for businesses to start using good web standards.

Tried to do that when I got my new iPad and it didn't work. Seems like each SIM is registered to a device and if it doesn't match that that device it's seems like you get no service. Could be completely wrong on this, but it seems like this is happening.

Only have the new iPad to go by, but it works on a 3G contract. Impossible to get on LTE here in Korea anyway.

Thanks, do you have a contract with unlimited data or is there a monthly cap?

Anyone know how much this (most basic model) is likely to cost in Korea? The iPad 2 seems to be cheaper from the .kr apple store than the UK one (by about 50 quid!), hoping this'll be the same.

As far as I know there aren't any unlimited data only plans. I currently have a data sharing plan which costs me 3000won extra a month (tacked onto my a phone bill) and I get 750mb of data.

Articles today says there are wifi troubles with the new wifi-only models. Includes poor wifi signal or no signal, overheating, and charging.
