Not sure on the timing, but I cant recommend the location. I dont know what I expected, but I remember not being wowed by the park. It seemed to be mostly a road with some trees along the side of it. Also, the place was so crowded last year, good luck getting a picture without a random korean photobombing it. These trees grow in other places.

Should be, going about today I saw quite a few trees in bloom.

Don't know about Yeouido, but I went by a few palaces yesterday and didn't see much in the way of cherry blossoms.

Wondering if they will hit later because of the weird weather we've been having. Would like to get out and see some this weekend if possible.

Narrow window for viewing this year. Cold march means the leaves are ready to pop almost as soon as the blossoms.

a viewing experience I would never want to go through again--not worth it considering the people and ridiculous car traffic.

There are better places to see the Cherry Blossoms like Namsan park or some other parks ~ I've seen some random trees in full blossom but not that many.
I don't get why Yeouido is THE place to go to see the Cherry Blossoms ~ the crowds alone put me off going there.

The Op sounds like a Korean ajuma! Laughing

just walk the taenchun in Bundang and you will see cherry blossoms.
but if going somewhere where there are 1 million Koreans all cramming into one small place is your idea of a day out. go for it.
next weekend will be full bloom.

Yeouido is one of my fave parts of Seoul and the festival is pleasant enough, but I concur with what other people are saying. I'm pretty sure on the Saturday I went last year, 6 million of Seoul's residents had also turned up alongside me. The other 6 million were the ones streaming out of Yeouinaru station in the early evening, evidently for some night time viewing, as I struggled to descend down to make my way home.

This year I went to Jinhae, much less crowded (though by western standards still insanely crowded), and much more beautiful. It's pretty far from Seoul, but I reckon it's worth it, so maybe make a weekend of it next year.

Not an ajuma but would make a good one if reincarnated as one. Didn't listen to advice given, went today as we had a hotel booked nearby. Flowers half open, too many people but a beautiful day to be outside.
And fosterman, not sure how you know I live in bundang but settle down on the stalk big fella Razz

Because Koreans think the best places are inherently the places with the most people, and no one wants to be left out.

The festivals are a major hassle. Far too many people go to those things, especially in late April. There are enough cherry blossoms in parks all around Korea to make it possible to avoid the festivals and still get the full cherry blossom experience. Just look around your area.

There's a flip-side to this phenomenon: Go to the beach any time outside of two weeks in August and it's stark raving empty!

I remember you asking about Skating Bojeong Skate park, so I just guessed you were living around there, or maybe your name should be changed to hardcore skater, as you would venture all the way down to Yongin from Seoul to just have a skate.

I was just taking the mickey about the ajuma comment bro, don't take it seriously. just having a laugh.
