Does anyone have any experience buying a bicycle in Seoul? Any stores you can recommend? Is buying online cheaper? Are Korean brands any good?

I think I want a hybrid or touring bike. To take out on weekends to parks and ride around town.

Fluent English speaker and honest: no bike brands, foreign or domestic, have large frames available in Korea. Most shops tried to sell me a medium frame and just compensate with longer than standard components, but Bob said the best thing to do would be to order a large frame from abroad and buy the components from him. I respect that kind of integrity.

If you just want a CHEAP bike, then you can get them for free or for a very small fee (about 30,000-40,000 Won) from the city hall. All of the bikes that those abandoned bikes that they confiscate are up for grabs. Any not taken are eventually given to the scrap yards. Go to your nearest Gu office or City Hall and ask which office deals with the abandoned bikes. (Take a Korean with you if you can't speak Korean.) Some offices charge a small fee to claim a bike. Others just give them away to get rid of them.
