Any comments appreciated. Is there a break down or general advice about preferred area of work/living in Busan? |

I'm assuming this is the Junggwan in Gijang-gun, Eastern Busan. This place is advertised as being "in Busan" but it's a far corner of it and pretty rural. It's not a bad place to work but I personally wouldn't want to live there. It's not a bad place just too quiet and far from the rest of Busan.
I recommend living in Haeundae or PNU and commuting to Junggwan (If you check the map, it's about the same distance). There are frequent buses and the commute is about an hour. If you have a car or motorcycle then it will be shorter, maybe 40-45 minutes from Haeundae. |

That is part of the greater Busan area but in reality it is not in Busan proper. It is a bit more rural and out of the way.
The commute mentionned above is indeed doable from Haeundae or PNU but it may take you more than an hour each way depending on traffic. I personally would prefer to live closer to my work and commute out to Busan on weekends but that is just me.
The motorcycle or car option could reduce commute time but, in the case of a car, gas costs will be steep (gas is pretty costly in Busan).
As for good areas to work and live in Busan, the list is very long and depends very much on what you want and prefer!! Without more information it would be hard to suggest areas.
Still, Somyeon, PNU, Nampoodong, Dongnea, Haeundae, Gwanganlee, Namchon, Suyeong...are are good areas to live and/or work. |

Jeonggwan is a nice area, pretty new so it might not have all the amenities you need. You'll DEFINITELY need a car living there though. It's pretty far away from....everything. Think of it as a suburb.
It's one of the VERY few areas in Busan that were developed with any kind of plan in place so the layout of the place makes more sense than the rest of Busan. But seriously, if getting a car isn't an option for you don't even think about going there. It's a good half hour to Haeundae by freeway. The freeway from the new town area takes you straight to the city expressway and you can go almost anywhere from there.
I actually like that area better than Haeundae but only because the Home Plus there has a DPNYC. |

Agree with the design comment.
I would say "new haeundae town" was also well planned. Centum City is also a good example of good urban planning. |

I don't think it compares to Haeundae New Town. It's not very walkable and was meant to develop into a new business district but then many developers pulled a fast one and built apartment buildings instead. Building apartments brings a quicker profit than commercial properties which take a while to fill up. |

Sure but as far as the area itself it is well planned, it has design appeal and offers lots of interesting things: department stores, a good spa, Bexco convention centre, coffee shops, restaurants, a cinema centre....
I would add that Shinseagea Department store is one heck of a place. It is prohibitively expensive to shop for certain things there but it has a nice rooftop park, an indoor skating rink, movie theatre and a big book store. The food court in the basement is pretty good too. |
