First let me say that I'm a total noob in the ESL scene. I have all my documents of course and recently started talking to some recruiters. I just completed my first 2 interviews ever, back to back (one today and one yesterday) and haven't heard anything from my recruiters or the school yet. I know it's still early to be expecting a reply since the first interview was only about 24 hours ago, but I've read somewhere that if schools like you they sometimes offer you the job on the spot at the end of the interview. I thought the interviews went okay (albeit short, roughly 10 minutes each), but now I'm starting to doubt myself. Anyone have any info on this? Should I give it another day or so then contact my recruiter about it? Or just wait?

I always email my recruiter right after an interview to say that I did it and ask what to expect next... They might have a bunch of interviews lined up, so that would explain them not contacting you yet. Definitely have more than one recruiter and if it's longer than a week (or your recruiter doesn't respond to your emails) go on to the next one.

Good luck and don't be too stressed about it ^.^

Thanks! I'll e-mail them and ask how to proceed from here.

1 to 2 days before they say they are interested in you as a PROSPECTIVE. After the interview you should hear within 1 to 2 days, sometimes longer. But if you haven't heard in about 2 days start looking elsewhere.

*big tip* be aware of Korean holidays!!! I remember the first couple of years I would be looking for a new spot and would totally freak out when I stopped hearing from people- once I was in Vietnam and really ready to come back to Korea - totally forgot the lunar new year dates were different Embarassed

so if everyone drops out all of a sudden-like - just check the calendar and if it's a holiday, be patient and then email again as soon as it's over.

It took me just over 2 weeks to get a job offer after my initial interview with the korean director (at a highly desired school with a good reputation).

During the time that I was waiting, I had several other interviews and job offers. The job offers came the day after the interview, but I rejected them. I wanted the first school I interviewed with because it had a great reputation and was in the location I wanted to be in.

After 2 weeks my recruiter contacted me to let me know that the school wanted to have a second interview. Then, I was contacted by the american "head teacher" where a longer, more in depth interview was conducted. I was sent a contract by the recruiter the next day. I never had an official job offer from the school.... only an email from my recruiter saying "the school like you and want to hire you. contact current teacher at [email protected] and sign the contract and send back as soon as possible."

So, essentially it depends on the school.

*I would suggest waiting for something you feel comfortable with and don't accept the first offer just because you're scared you won't get any more. I accepted 100k less for a school that I knew had a good reputation and better working hours. For me, it was worth it.
