As someone who hasn't even read the books, I feel like some of the character development is shallow and the plot is jumping around too quickly. Qarth for example.

As a reader/fan of the book, I can say that they have radically changed Dany's story arch.

Though your synopsis is both true and funny.

I'm not sure if I'm liking the small but noticeable changes to the Jon Snow arch. That plus the lack of "Renly's Ghost" at Blackwater are the only changes off the top of my head, I'm not happy with.

I actually read a scene by scene recap by someone who hadn't read the books and they mentioned something about what might have been Renly's ghost after Tyrion gets pwned in the face.

I really felt that the last episode was just not realistic (I know it's a fantasy series, but bear with me). I rolled my eyes when Stannis was the first person up the first ladder. It was pretty absurd that people kept getting cut in half, too. I think I really liked the first season because it was "realistic" (within the constraints of the world), but the second season has been a total let down for me.

I felt that way about the books too. The first book was great because it introduced all of the characters and the world they live in, while the sequel plodded along trying to incorporate too many different character-arcs. Still a damn good show though, despite failing to live up to the first series. What else is on TV right now that is worth watching? Mad Men? Please...

I feel like HBO are just trying to hard with the no limits.
the writers are probably comparing thrones with spartacus.
so this season we have seen more sex, more blood, more skin.
it's like they are going for total shock entertainment. but it's just being done in a stupid way.

still waiting for the last two books to come out so we can know what happens to everyone.

but yeah, it is getting a little lame at times. but still enjoyable .

Mad Men is balls. Not a single likeable character on the show. That and nowhere near the boob count of Game of Thrones..

I like boobs, but the boob count gets a bit onerous at times. HBO used to be the home of quality entertainment, and as much as I like "Game of Thrones", it seems like they realized sex sells with "True Blood" and have decided to go that rout rather than making great TV. Ten years ago, your average idiot wouldn't have been overly interested in HBO's shows, as they required a degree of thought. Now you've got the same people who go to see the "Twilight" movies six times salivating over the next episode of "Game of Thrones". I trust AMC to make a great show a lot more than I do HBO, at this point.

As much as I love Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire is a better show in my opinion.

I watched the first half of the first season and didn't find it too engaging, but I've heard the second season really picked up from people who felt the same way about the first season as I did.

I loved it from the start but I'm also really into gangster shit and the prohibition era really interests me. It does pick up later in the season and once you get to know the characters, you'll have some "oh shit!" moments in the second season.

I think my expectations were way, way too high going in, as I'd been looking forward to it for a year or so, and was inevitably disappointed as a result. I'll definitely come back to it. That said, I still have more faith in AMC, at least until HBO tones down the soft-core porn that seems to dominate its lineup at this point (even Lena Dunham sexted the world), Boardwalk aside.

Well, I've read that in Japan they used to test new swords for sharpness by cutting dead bodies (or a very unfortunate slave) in half from shoulder to waist. Could a longsword have cut through a body? I don't see why not if the swordsman was skilled.

Or how about dragons and shapeshifters? Could they have existed?

I felt the same way while watching The Avengers the other night. Little far-fetched to believe that Bruce Banner was belted by gamma rays and turned into The Hulk. Come on!

My comment went right over your head.

I find irony in complaints about one of the few things in this TV show which could be plausible since it also has dragons and sorcerers.
