Anyone know of a place where I can order American Independence Day decorations in Korea?
Nothing elaborate, just a few things for a small get together.
(Wonder how many trolls will chime in ) |

I think you'll probably have to content yourself with red, white and blue general party-type decorations. Anything US oriented you'll have to make yourself using materials from one of those party stores with the big paper arches in front of it. You could get lights or candles or something like that too. And then you could add flags pretty easily, from Itaewon if nowhere else. I think nicely colored flowers would really add some good atmosphere...red carnations with white lilies and blue-ish delphinium?
American-style fireworks might be illegal here, I honestly don't know where you'd go to find them. Food...Costco! Hot dogs, pretzels, relish, cheese. One thing to remember is gray-market stores near American bases will have some good traditional stuff from PXs, like proper mustard, rolls, GOOD chips, salsa, barbeque sauce, whatever. Often the prices aren't really that bad.
Hope you can find some things for a great party! |

If your looking for fireworks Daiso often has a few roman candles and such in their stores. Not much really, hope that helps a little. |

Yeah I've had luck on the Korean internet shopping sites with red, white and blue items, I was just wondering if I was looking in the wrong place.
Also, good call on the flowers...I hadn't thought of that! |

Somewhat off topic, but where does one buy American flags in Itaewon? I've been meaning to get one for my apartment, for America. |

Have someone mail you an Uncle Sam costume and the next time they have a "Death to America" rally outside Seoul Station walk through the crowd handing out candy. Have someone make a video. Now that would be priceless. |

I usually have no problem finding sparklers, roman candles, and bottle rockets. There are a few more fireworks that I've gotten my hands on too but nothing too elaborate. |

Good call, I'm going to get a regular one from the PX. I live on the top (15th) floor and want one that hangs about five floors down so the neighbors see nothing but red, white, and blue in their face (of course it'd probably get burned in short order). Funny, I was never this nationalistic until coming to Korea in 2006 as an ex-pat. |
