I don't know why some people are fussin' for nothin'. Granted, some of us get annoyed with some things we see in Korea, as there are also many great things here for us, but this is not some major issue.
Canadians don't speak Korean and are not going to want to come in large numbers except to teach, and the market here is already tight as it is. It's not 2006. It's 2012, folks.

On n'a pas besoin de plus de canadiens icitte...

The vast majority of Koreans in Canada on working holiday visas, work in Korean restaurants. They are often paid under the table/work for tips. I know some in Toronto who are in this situation. However, the money isn't bad. I feel bad for them because they get stuck spending a large ammount of their time here in Korean speaking environments. Lots find jobs at Starbucks too.

I think all visa agreements should be reciprocal. Equal on both ends. However, the reality is that Koreans who come to Canada spend more money than they make here, so nobody really cares about that. Canadian govt is more concerned about the visas being used as a tool for human trafficking/prostitution.

The no teaching thing on a working holiday visa is funny but not so important. I've stayed in korea on multiple (4 I think) consecutive 6 month tourist visas, exiting the country for a couple of days then coming back. It's funny because I'm less traceable on a tourist visa than a working holiday visa. I would give a hotel as my address when I enter and say I'm touring. You'd think the government would rather have more details about me, that they would if I was on a working holiday.

If you really want to play the visa game, I think you can get a Taekwondo training visa. Get some pics of you in a dobok and ask some TKD hagwan guiy to hook you up and you're all good

Quote:
Police booked 18 middlemen and brothel owners Friday for allegedly luring Korean women into prostitution in Australia after the latter entered the country on working holiday visas.

Among those booked included a brothel owner in Sydney, surnamed Jung, who is suspected of hiring domestic sex workers with the help of a middleman, identified as Kim, since 2009.

Quote:
Police said that among the women were students that were attending colleges or taking language courses on weekdays and working at brothels during the weekend.

Kim made illegal use of a working holiday visa system which allows young people aged 18 to 30 to travel, study and work in foreign countries. She also fabricated documents for her employees to extend their visas.

And in other news...millions of koreans allowed to live in the west with equal rights..while any foreigner who sets foot in Korea is viewed as an invasion force.

Part of the reason that Korean perceptions are so skewed and ill-informed is that the local media has been so one-sided and so irresponsible for so long.

i think it's you that are so skewed and ill-informed. well i'm not your mother so whatever..
