|
|
Anyone know if it is illegal for a hagwon to teach classes 7 days a week? If yes, is it simply they can't hold classes 7 days a week, or students can't attend seven days a week? For example student A attends classes 5 days a week, but 1 of those days is a Saturday.

there are certain hours they can't teach certain ages but don't think 7 days a week make any difference.
I worked at a hakwon once that had classes on national holidays - not me of course, I got the day off but the Korean teachers were there as well as the students.
why are you asking about this? |

If I recall, they can't teach kids after 10pm. They CAN teach on the weekends.
There are limits on the number of hours they can give you per day and per week. They also have to give the employees at least one paid day off per week but it doesn't matter which one. If the employees have to work at night, on national holidays or on Sunday, then they are supposed to get paid at least time and a half. |

I want to clarify that my question has nothing to do with what a particular hagwon is asking their teachers to do. I just want to know if it is legal for a hagwon to schedule classes 7 days a week. Sorry I wasn't more specific on that, and thank you in advance for any info. |

Can a hagwan be open 7-days per week = yes.
Can a teacher be asked to work 7 days per week = no.
