is self discovery a bad reason?
I feel listless, without purpose here. I'm thinking maybe i'll discover who i really am i by moving to a foreign country, travelling the world etc.
Here at home, i work an office job. Newly single. I am 30 yrs old (i look 21) female, an introvert. I feel like im making no progress in life.  |

That seems pretty subjective. I think Korean food is great. And how would someone not experience another culture if they are living in another culture?
Seems like you should go home and flip burgers. |

I like Korean food, but most folks find that it gets a bit old after awhile, as it can never provide the kind of range you get in the immigrant cultures of the West. That's not a knock, but it is what it is. |

you'll fit right in as many foreign teachers also seem to have no purpose in life other than drinking, of course. 
seriously, tho, why do you think moving to a foreign country - especially one in Aisa where Western culture is so completely different?
what's your degree in? what country are you from? why did you pick Korea as the place you think you can find yourself as opposed to say, Morroco, Russia or Turkey? all places that hire ESL teachers.
also, if you aren't a troll, why ask what are the bad reasons ? seems like you might be more interested in positive aspects of such a decision. |

 oops just noticed the OP is in Texas.
that explains a lot. OP, you probably just need to get out of Texas, head to one of the coasts, that's as good as moving to another country. pack your bags and head out, asap. don't look back. give it a year or 2, you'll be glad you did - I certainly was (am). |

| It would be a really bad idea to head to Korea for doughnuts. I mean, there are some good doughnuts in Korea, but you don't have to go that far. It's not like they're that good or anything. |

Good question Luckylady
I chose Korea because its seems like the best place out of all the other asian countries. Not crazy expensive like japan, and not a dump like the rest. Ive been into asian centric things like video games and anime and dramas/films.
Ive always wanted to teach in Japan or Korea since i was in college. Its been a few years now, been putting it off.
I'll give it a try now....no matter how stupid my reasons may be. I just need a huge change to jolt me out of my rut. |

That last sentence makes me think you'd be better off in Japan, in spite of the cost of living increase, or China, in spite of the standard of living decrease. |

My degree is in Business Administration
I work in Accounting.
I think i would like teaching....not sure what age group. I will give kindy/elementary a try since kids love me and i like singing songs and teaching babies to talk. I'm a proud aunty of 7
I just need to getaway from everything and everyone i know for a while tho. |

| Honestly, you'll never know until you get here. It's all matter of how much the culture fits you in my opinion. You'll get vastly different opinions depending on who you ask. Just reading Dave's you'll see that some people hate it here while others think it's the best place on earth. |
