|
|
I've just applied for my F6 visa so hopefully I'll have it within a month.
Once I get the new visa, do I need to do anything with my employers regarding the E2? Obviously I will tell them once it's processed but do I need to do anything to cancel the E2 if I want my wife to be the sponsor?
I'm looking to finish my job a month early in March so if I give the correct notice around January next year, all should be good with the F6? I can just sit on my arse all day should I wish to do so? |

Once you are on your F6 then you are no longer tied to your employer and you can do whatever you want (provided it doesn't get you divorced).
There is NOTHING you need to do in regards to your employer and your visa. You don't even need to tell them if you don't want.
Even if you don't give "proper notice" there is nothing they can do to you for leaving a month early.

Thanks for the reply.
I thought schools could go to small claims or something if you didn't give notice? I dont think they will give me 4 days off work so I am prepared to change jobs (family reasons). Still want to remain on good terms with the school though. |

There is a user here who claims that to be true but after researching court records I can find NO documented case AN EMPLOYEE ever being held responsible for quitting early.
In fact, labor law clearly defines an employment contract as being different from other contracts and clearly limits the liability of an employee who quits and in fact gives an EMPLOYEE the right to quit at any time without threat or coercion (including civil liability) from an employer.
