2d wise my vote is with the NeoGeo or PC Engine. If we are talking about computers then the Amiga had a lot of good stuff too

Star Fox was always one of my faves. I have it on my laptop now, but I need to get a handheld controller so I can play it better Smile

Super Smash Bros.

Beware - it is as fun but also as addictive as heck.

Great game, though it was for the Nintendo 64.

Played it myself on the snes emulator.

I couldn't say whether you played it on an emulator as I'm not up to speed on the topic and some of them may play games from several Nintendo consoles, but Super Smash Bros. was first released on the Nintendo 64. From the information provided by Died By Bear's original post, he's using an actual Super Nintendo console and thus couldn't play the game anyway.

Doh, sorry it's been a while since I've had the heady joys of a snes session until 5am... lol...

I meanT 'Super Buster Bros'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Pang

Also known as 'Super Pang.'

One of THE most 'playable,' fun and addcitive games EVER MADE.

OP, just trust this coming from a man that could beat anyone in his neighbouring towns on super st fighter 2 turbo and can complete it for one credit in the arcade still to this day in his mid thrities lol.

thank you gents

thank you gents

very very muchy

Of the consoles I own (PS3, Wii, Xbox), the SNES is the most beautiful.

I cleaned her up yesterday and got all the dust out of the nooks and crannys, and she looks like a million bucks. The best thing? The controllers (Now number 6) are all in excellent condition. Two were still in the wrappers.

Jimskins, they made a Japanese version with a different form factor called the "Famicom"

I am going to look for one when I go. I think that would be an amazing find.

I have always maintained that the Snes was the greatest console ever. It was the last hurrah of gameplay over graphics (which were still good enough) before all the wanky 3d stuff came in.

Without being Nintendo Hard hahahah.

F Zero was definitely a unique game. Very trippy.

^ Especially the music: I still get shivers when I hear the first bars of the Mute City 1 track music and my sisters and I wrote lyrics for the "White Land" music.

Fun times Cool

Ah, another few essentials:

Zombies ate my neighbours - fantastic game, I'll stick my neck out and say probably the best two player game on the SNES, both funny and scary.

Two good arcade conversions:
Super Ghouls and Ghosts
Super Smash TV

the snes was truly a mecca for classic rpg's.

if you like them try these:

final fantasy III

secret of mana (already mentioned)

secret of evermore

chrono trigger

breath of fire 1/2

ogre battle: the march of the black queen

super mario rpg: legend of the seven stars

earthbound

the legend of zelda: a link to the past

as for other games try:

pocky and rocky

battletoads in battlemaniacs

mega man 7/X3

teenage mutant ninja turtles IV: turtles in time

super mario kart

super castlevania IV

super metroid

Mega Man X, X2 and X3. I still go back and beat them periodically to see just how sluggish my reflexes are getting.

Thank you wishfulthinking, that was great.

Having such a great time playing SNES games, haven't even turned on any other console in a month now.

Good times!

Very Happy

Some of these games (mainly RPG's) will need new batteries* (for save games).

I think the batteries are only expected to last 5 years.

* inserted into the actual cartridge, I have never seen it done though.

My contribution: Earthworm Jim
It's an odd little game with some very interesting gameplay, tons of fun.
Turtles In Time was pretty awesome too.

+1 to Final Fantasy III, both Donkey Kong Countrys and Street Fighter II Turbo Very Happy

Both? There were 3 Donkey Kong Country. 2 and 3 were my favorite, 1 feels a bit clunky after playing the 2 and 3 (though absolutely fantastic before).

I guess 3 goes on the list too. Honestly it just wasn't that memorable for me. With neither Donkey nor Diddy being playable, having played the hell out of the first 2, and getting an N64 shortly after DKC3 was released... it just wasn't high on my list of memories Razz
