I had a relative who did it and honestly felt inclined to have her remove it.

Is it dangerous?

Just tell her to remove it. In today's world you can't trust anyone.

How could that be dangerous?
You mean someone could copy the picture, then edit the name, and then they would have a digital image of a (fake) degree? How would that affect the original degree holder though?

Yeah, I don't really see the issue. I just googled a photo of my university's diploma, and it wouldn't be difficult to find a list of names that attended the university (even if your Facebook doesn't say). What's the worst that could happen?

not dangerous at all, if you are that paranoid just upload the picture with a watermark. but seriously. it's not worth worrying about.
there are hundreds of degree mills on the internet if someone wants a fake degree.
