| The current US government apologizing to the individual families that this affected is one thing. Apologizing to the current Chinese regime is ridiculous. Completely different situation. Has the current Chinese govt apologized to its own people for the Cultural Revolution, Great Leap Forward? How about Tiannamen? |

Wasn't the real solution to bring the Chinese into the labor unions of the day to keep/push wages up for everyone?
As a sop to the bigots, they could have put the Chinese on the front lines of the labor conflicts so more of them got shot by the Pinkerton stooges of the plutocrats than good white guys.
To separate the Chinese (or anyone else) out was a defeat for the working class and a surrender to the oligarchs who used (successfully in this case) the time-honored divide and conquer technique. |

| Good points Ya-ta.be I read maybe 10 years ago a Chinese social scientist's article which laid part of the blame on the Chinese failure to integrate into the society. I thougt this point showed great awareness by the sociologist. It was s the labor movement that led the push to exclude the Chiinese. They worked harder for less money. |
