I think it has more to do with spam, actually.


Very few Pacific Islanders rely primarily on their traditional diet any longer. Hence their immense obesity problem. It's a western import that's killing them. Same for the GCC countries. At least, the GCCers have a traditional dress style that de-emphasizes the human form. A plus for their egos, I'm sure.

BMI 25
Algerian,
70% lower BMI than my fellow Canucks my age and 53% higher BMI than males my age in the world.

Fits pretty well. I'm a big guy by world standards but pretty thin compared to my fellow westerners. I'd have to bulk up a bit to be a hockey player, but I'm great for a runner or skier.
