Sorry, but that is not true.
I have to spend my time reading the posting to find out what it is I'm expected to agree/disagree with. Dave's is about conversation. When there is NOTHING, then I have wasted my time. |
Go to ANY news site. Read the comments, then ask yourself if ANY of the readers had trouble agreeing/disagreeing. You call bolded lines nothing? Those lines aren't bolded by chance.

| Over the years, we have had many posters who just link to anti-Korea articles. It seems to be their passive-aggressive method of slamming Korea. I object to people holding Korea up for undue criticism. If I'm not mistaken, Dave's frowns on this kind of behavior, too. |

I know you like to assume, so let me make this clear for you. I am not anti-Korea. I am Korean. I was born in Korea. I have family in Korea. I have properties in Korea. |

If those posters don't care...I fail to see the service. People who care can find and read the articles for themselves. People who don't won't.
And yeah it's expected (internet etiquette ) to add a comment or two. |
Have you (or any person that you know) ever gone inside of a store and bought something on the way out that you did not plan on buying prior to entering? Couldn't the same logic be applied here? |

Nope. The person in your hypothetical situation was going to the store for some purpose. People just don't walk aimlessly into stores and just wander around for a while as a general rule.
Given the above situation though

the guy wouldn't even look at the store to begin with. There would be no purpose to begin with. |

You haven't met my ex-wife.
As to the OP;
Terrible thing, that. If you Google rape you can read lots of stories about rape all around the World. Lots of rape going on, which is very bad.
I say again; rape is a terrible, terrible crime and those who rape should be convicted to the letter of which ever country's law that the rape occurs. Unfortunately those who rape often get away with their crime, as can be evidenced by the many stories about rape, if you Google rape in the news section of Google. |

Is it remotely possible for a Dave's poster to log in and see what's new ("walk aimlessly"), without logging in to post or reply?
Also, I'm not asking as a general rule. I'm asking if it could ever happen.

I'll play along.
Every person in the world, whether they want to or not, will look at a "store" and "shop" at one. |

I wish I only read about such things. I routinely see this stuff while advising law enforcement on cold cases as an anthropologist. My main gig is not teaching ESL. I teach sporadically to conduct research for my ESL documentary. I didn't want to be bored when I'm in Korea, so it's a side project of mine. If you like, I'll send you a link to the documentary when it's done. |

Actually, I have gone to E-mart many times to see if there is anything in general worth buying. For example, if there happens to be some free samples of wine, I might buy a wine bottle. In the same vein, there are some events in Korea, I might not hear about if Ajosshi did not post about them.
Also, what is anti-Korean about posting something which happens in Korea. Is it anti-Korean to say that Koreans are upset about their justice system not treating repeat offenders more harshly? If anything, I think that this speaks positively of Korea in the sense that the desire is there to change things for the better. When the desire is there, then possibly and hopely change is on the horizon. |

So you rarely buy stuff in shops but just walk in and wander aimlessly around as a general rule?
If that's what passes for entertainment in your world...more power to you I guess. |
