It received a standing ovation at the Imax theater I was at in Bangkok. Why I don't know. It's not like the actors and director are going to be there to receive it. The movie was pretty weird but well worth seeing.

Saw it last night. Went in with high expectations obviously, given that I thought the first two were done so well. I thought it was pretty good, but not as good as its predecessors.

- Bane was too difficult to understand. I appreciate the effort the actor made to bring quirks to the character, but given the amount of dialogue Bane has, that voice just became too tedious to deal with at times.

- The "plot twist" they throw in just made me cease to care about Bane at all. Really bad plot move in my opinion.

- The tension was lacking at times. Things would just start happening without any buildup.

88% certified fresh on rotten tomatoes.

Glad that I wasn't the only one who had trouble understanding Bane though. I've been concerned about my hearing as of late.

I also had trouble hearing Bane. It was a little annoying. I think what made Dark Knight more impressive than Rises is the villain. Joker was far more interesting and unpredictable than Bane which created more tension for me.

Saw it last week in a packed theatre and I was satisfied with the movie. It was a great conclusion to the trilogy.

I for one liked how the focus was shifted abrubtly from Bane towards the end as the woman betraying batman was a good twist and really tied the story together from film 1 to film 3.

Bane was no Ledger as the Joker but the Dark Knight was a different movie with a different focus than TDKR. In this last flick, the focus is more on social commentary and on the conclusion of the Batman character himself when everything comes together.

I hope he (Nolan) is done with this series and lets it stand as it is.

As for Bane's voice, it was annoying at times but it did not bother me too much. I also liked the catwoman character and the performance of Gary Oldman as Gordon.

The whole trilogy has been hugely overrated. The fanboys would have us believe that the movies are a product of auterist genius, but I just saw a rather grandiose and overlong, humourless cliche-ridden action flick. It was certainly quite entertaining though with lots of spectacular set pieces and some good, if a little stoic, performances from the cast. The plot twist was also a little bit telegraphed about halfway in, disappointingly.
As for Bane, there were a few lines that I couldn't understand at all, but it didn't detract too much from the simplistic plot.
6/10

That's like saying "Just for fun, I plucked all the hairs off my scrotum, one by one"

In other words, I question your idea of fun.

Am I the only one who is getting a bit weary of all this Dark Knight and comic book whathaveyou?

Agreed. I just read that there's a DC Comics "Justice League" to be made and possibly directed by none other than....! *Drum roll* "Pearl Harbor"'s Ben Affleck! *ahem*

Anyways, unless they make a ROBOTECH film, I'm not interested. And if it's directed by Michael Bay....the whole sci-fi, comic book film industry is done and I won't watch anymore such films.

I really liked the film. So did this culture blogger. (spoilers in the link)

I went to see Christopher Nolan's conclusion to the trilogy again a few days ago. I wanted to see it in IMAX, and having now seen it twice I don't want to watch it again for another ten years. I would like to forget it, in fact, forget most of what it made me feel, and then in watch it again. Films you love can be endlessly consumed over and over again with a velocity that books just can't. I want some time off.

He liked Selina Kyle.

All my favorite action stars are scared shitless. That's the part that allows me to relate. I love Harrision Ford in The Fugitive, just before he leaps off the dam. No one could survive that jump. But that doesn't bother me, as long as I know that he knows that he should not survive the jump. Perhaps I should say all my favorite action stars are vulnerable--Boromir's temptation, the evil in him, is what makes him my favorite character in the first LOTR film, and his death the hardest to take.

Hathaway's Catwoman is panicked. She is scared of Bane, scared of getting caught, scared of poverty, and this helps me connect because I would be scared, too. And yet in the end, she actually [SPOILER OMITTED].

To be honest, if it wasn't for Heath Ledger's remarkable turn in the second movie, the whole trilogy could be filed under 'good but not that good'. Considering the impact The Joker had on Gotham and Batman, it is strange that he didn't get a mention in the final movie. However, they couldn't shut up about Harvey Dent, who was really just a side note in that movie.
