South Korea tourist visa is not required
for citizens of United States for a stay up to 90 days.

How many times can you leave and re-enter on a tourist visa?

I would like to stay for a year.

Thanks for any info you can share! Very Happy

Can you do it = yes. You wouldn't be the 1st and won't be the last.

Can they refuse you entry at any time = yes.

IF you can justify your stay, have a reason to stay for a year, a place and the means to live for a year without work (you may be asked to prove it) then no worry.

I know a Mexican guy whose girlfriend is a teacher who has been doing tourist visa runs every three months for two or three years, fwiw (though they may be less skeptical of him simply because he's not a native English speaker).

If it is the same couple that I'm thinking about, he has been doing that much longer than a couple of years.

Three years, give or take a bit, for this couple. Did different countries previously.

Goes along with:

IF you can justify your stay, have a reason to stay for a year, a place and the means to live for a year without work (you may be asked to prove it) then no worry.

reason to stay = g/f
place to live = with her
means to live without work = she is working
= Keeps k-immigration happy.

The fact that he can find extra work under the table is a bonus but not without risks.
