Is it just me or does it seem like most everyone here is already in agreement? From the three pages of comments I've read it seems like most people are willing to hold their girl's purse in certain situations or for brief periods of time. It's like everyone is typing the exact same thing in slightly different ways.

Welcome to Daves. Endless bickering.

Never said I was. Even if I am the most insecure man here, it doesn't change the validity of my statement.

So why insult others when you also have insecurities? Doesn't make sense to me.

I'm just saying....everyone needs to relax and realize that carrying a girls bag (when with her of course) doesn't make you any less of a man. I would argue it makes you more of a man. The only exception being if she abuses this kindness and expects it every time.

I sometimes think people here just argue for the sake of it even if there's nothing to argue about.

This is the invisible line that didn't make it on the "Dave's ESL" logo because of a cropping accident.

I have a friend who came up with the cure to his gf asking him to carry her bag.

After constant hounding and him refusing to carry her bag, one day after buying some stuff at E-mart, she asked him yet again to carry it. She was shocked when he actually said yes, but horrified when he put it into the E-mart bag. After that day, she never asked again.

If it had really been about the weight of the purse, would putting it into another bag have been a problem?

best answer/response as (fyi) it's more than clear to other women why a woman wants him to carry her bag. (more fyi) it's a form of putting her brand on him, letting the world know he's taken, not available, permanently hobbled, however you want to put it. different than when the ring is on the finger as in much more dramatic.

anyway, that's the way it was discussed between us girls (Korean and western) Laughing

So everyone seems to be in agreement on the handbag issue.

How about when the lady asks you to put on some Korean softening cream or some shit .."because it's sunny and she is worried about your skin". (no not sun cream... something else)

At first it was an outright no from me. Few weeks later and its evolved into "oooo I will give you a face massage and make you all soft".
Part of me is thinking, some affection and good skin product maybe isnt such a bad thing.

Other side is thinking... I am becoming more and more girly in this county, this is the straw that will get me laughed at back home....
Haven't caved in yet but im swaying...

One more predicament. How about holding the umbrella in the rain or sun?
I will hold it in the rain for her as Korean girls seem to freeze almost immediately and struggle under the rain. Gets me lion fighting man points.

In the sun I tell her to just take the sun tan or hold it herself. I don't like pale white skin anyway...

I was gonna suggest this for all the guys who are afraid to be seen carrying their girlfriends bag. Get her to store a manly carrier bag (B&Q or Harley Davidson) in her handbag and when she wants you to carry her bag just slip it in the manly plastic bag and your dignity is saved...

If you're feeling that you're being taken advantage of, or that you're not willing to do something to help her, then I guess there's something not quite right in the relationship.

I would argue it makes you more of a man. .

Actually had milk come out my nose when i read this line. And most telling sentence. Safe to say he'd also think its more manly to have flabby man-breasts, run from a fight and drink shirley temple's at the pub.
