I think you should start by acting like a guy yourself.

When I run shirtless the chicks get excited. Can't help how they act but it's tons of fun.

Can we get this thread back on track? I wanna hear some funny stories about first dates. The best I have is I tripped while introducing myself and almost knocked her over.

That and I spilled curry on my shirt another time. I know both boring so give us some good ones.

I'll give it a shot. It wasn't a disaster, as it ended up going down later, but it certainly felt like I was being hijacked from the start. I hadn't been here long and was messing around with one of the online dating sites, talked to a girl on there, and agreed to meet her at a subway station. We meet and walk less than 25 yards before she asks me if I'm hungry. I say "no," ask her if she is, she says "yes," so I ask her where she wants to eat. She says, "here" and points at this expensive looking Korean restaurant we happened to be standing right outside of. She ordered a nasty trough of some kind of Korean stew, that did nothing more than repulse me, and she went at it as if she hadn't eaten in a week. If she was starving, I'm glad I could help out, but with drinks it was about $50, or something like that.

Fine, I'm cool, I'm doing my best to roll with it. But, she was giving me the K-pop is huge in Europe, I like to hike a mountain, four seasons stuff, and my charm was faltering. We leave the restaurant and start chatting a little about music, she says she likes jazz, I say me too, and then she asks if I want to go to a jazz club. "I guess, sure, where?" "Here." Two blocks from the restaurant. She had it all staked out. Amazing music, great musicians, but a bud was $9 and her cocktails were around $15. I know I might come off as cheap, but to spend nearly $100 on a first date after knowing someone for less than two hours, ugh, I started feeling like a sucker. Count the love motel and it was a $150 large. It was a cunning display, I didn't fault her for playing her game, but it would have been cheaper to just take it to the hill.

My only real first date disasters were mostly early on in high school when I thought of women as elusive and difficult to understand temptresses. I learned fast, but the first girl I took on a real date went on to become a Big 12 cheerleader, and I later went to homecoming with the homecoming queen. Screwed both of those up. Though, I got a drunken school girl outfit lap dance from the cheerleader a couple years later. That memory has almost allowed me to overcome the broken dreams of what could have been. Almost.

You're a dirtbag, dude. Hopefully you'll get the hint one day. It costs nothing to be a gentleman and take the high road in that situation. You may want to ream your friend out (the one who set you up), or maybe lay your own dating groundwork. But to slip away unannounced? Ball-less.

Zack is a troll. Just enjoy his lameness for what it is.

When I was in college I had the hots for a friend of mines friend... So, for our first date I decided to cook for her at my place, then we would head to a friend's house for a small party. I cooked, from scratch, her favorite food: Fettuccine Alfredo and I threw in some sauteed shrimp and scallops to be fancy. Had a bottle of wine chilled and flowers on the table. Kind of went all out here cause she was 1. hot and 2. out of my league. We eat, drink the wine, have a couple of cocktails, and then head out across town to my buddy's place. When we pulled up to the driveway I noticed her scratching her arms pretty roughly so I turned on the light only to find out that she was TOTALLY broken out in hives and her eyes were all puffy!!! The smoothest words to ever come out of my mouth did:

"Holy SHIT! What in the hell is wrong with you!!!!"

Her response was to immediately start crying and sobbing that she didn't know but she itched really bad. I put 2 and 2 together and came up with Allergic reaction to shrimp, put the car in reverse, hauled ass to the pharmacy, and bought her benedryl.

I ended up staying up allllllll night with her to make sure she kept breathing, thinking to myself that I was about to be totally screwed for killing this girl with noodles and sauce!

We ended up dating for almost 3 years....Guess it was a good first impression to her.
