Should I work at Yonsei FLI or take a remote job at a national uni in Andong? it's getting very late in the game for Sept. I have to make a choice.

In my grad school, other veterans of Korean university teaching say avoid Yonsei FLI. It's just a hogwon inside Yonsei. Hard work. Long hours. A young man's game. Tons of turnover. And I"m older. In fact I'm over their age cutoff but they made an exception. My friends say it would be better 4 resume to go to Andong, even tho it's small and remote. I also may have a shot at Cheongju U. But so far, only Yonsei FLI & Andong have offers on the table. Any input would be much welcome. Thank you very much.

I would take the national uni job in a heartbeat. I've lived in a "rural" city (100,000 people) and it was easy to mingle with the relatively tight-knit foreign teacher community. Night life was ok too. That said, this city is only 20 minutes from Daejeon and 90 minutes south of Seoul. I think I could handle Andong, but I've never been there so it's just a wild guess. I'd take the risk to avoid the "young man's game", however.

If there isn't anything preventing you from moving to Andong, then it's a pretty easy decision.

Upon further review, and if it's the same job posted here, Andong National University may not be all that much better. See the following thread for discussion on this job: http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=221852&highlight=andong

Always take a regular uni. position over anything "FLI"!
