Vietnam Air flies to Vietnam and then to BKK if you are so inclined. They are pretty cheap (ICN - SGN - BKK - SGN - ICN for 350k won last June).
There are lots of cheap alternatives to get out of ICN if you are headed for SE Asia and even more for getting around in SE Asia.

For Bangers, you can also try T-way, Jeju air, Jinair and Orient Thai. First three are korean 'budget' airlines, other is a charter Thai airline. Check to see if the last one has flights, as it is rather seasonal (summer/winter high seasons).
Zest air has some really good deals to Manila at the moment, too, as they've just started the ICN-MNL route this past June/July. |

for flights to the philippines i'd also recommend zest and searching the local and budget carriers because there aren't many national carriers that fly there and when they do it's crazy expensive with awful timetables.
for anywhere else in se asia i'd recommend a real national airline. that way you get miles, work on your alliance status and get real service unless you can find a price that significantly cheaper on a budget carrier. problem is, unless you jump on one of their "deals" the moment it's public and help crash their servers those deals are few and far between.
even the national carrier for indonesia, garuda air, has a partnership with korean air these days for mileage.
note: air asia has to be one of the most awful flight experiences i've ever had. i'd personally rather spend 100k more on my ticket, accrue mileage, get lounge access and land at a real airport (instead of the POS budget airport at kuala lumpur) and be treated like a person who flies a lot instead of a young backpacking chump than take that airline ever again. they are only good for short flights to locations that aren't very well served. for commonly flown national carrier routes or long haul flights, avoid it like the plague even if you have to pay an extra 75 bucks. |

Have to agree with this. KLIA is a nice airport, but unfortunately the airport used by Air Asia in KL is a real sh!thole.
Zest airways from ICN to MNL is also pretty good. I did it last month, and was pleasantly surprised to learn that it operates out of Terminal 3 at Manila and NOT Terminal 4, despite what it said on my ticket. I've heard Terminal 4 is rather unsavoury. |

I'll look into a suitable alternative to Air Asia... |
