|
|
Hi, everyone.
I'm planning on visiting Japan for Chuseok and I was wondering if I need a multi-entry visa to do that. I ask because, when I went to Cambodia two years ago, I learned (much to my dismay, at the airport right before my flight) that I need a multi-entry visa if I want to leave Korea and come back again. Now, I'm thinking I need one to go to Japan, but when I went to the airport to ask about it, they disagreed. They basically said, "No, it's fine; you don't need a new visa." I still can't help being skeptical. I don't want to go through the Cambodia situation again and get to the dock (I'm taking a ferry from Busan) only to find out I need a different visa if I want to come back. I'm sure one of you NON-multi-entry visa holder must have been to Japan before or know someone who has, so am I good to go or do I need to go back and insist on a new visa?
Thanks, everyone. |

You just need to show your ARC. That shows you are a registered foreigner and allows you to go and return no problem. I've done it 3 times so don't worry! |

Effective December 2010 ALL registered foreigners (have an ARC) are free to leave and return without the need for a re-entry permit / multi-entry visa for as long as their ARC remains valid with the
NOTABLE EXCEPTION
that F5 holders are limited to a maximum of 2 consecutive years outside of Korea.

Relevant question:
I'm new in Korea and planning on traveling to Japan for Chuseok, however I don't have my ARC yet. I should have it by the time I leave, however if I don't will my multi-entry E2 visa suffice (on my visa under "Entries" it says "M)? What is the situation with a Japan visa, do I just need to show my US passport at the airport?
;-
I know this is several relevant questions, sorry. |

Multi-entry visa and you should be fine.
Yes, as an American you only need your passport and exit ticket for a stay of up to 90 days in Japan.
