I'm thinking about heading to graduate school and getting my master's in either Applied Linguistics or TEFL/TESOL. I've searched Dave's for school recommendations, but most threads are pretty old. I'm looking for updated information and recommendations. Any country!

I'm also hoping to find schools that offer either full tuition waivers or fellowships/assistantships to students. I've found a couple (American University in Cairo and Bilkent), but I was hoping a thread on Dave's would uncover more opportunities.

Cheers!

No replies I see. You've got to include something about racism or, even better, Korean girls to get a reply on this site. Laughing

Okay but seriously, I went to University of New England (Australia) for an MA in Applied Linguistics. I paid full tuition but it wasn't expensive- if I recall correctly, tuition for the whole 2 year, 4 semester programme was about 12 million won.

I realize this probably isn't the kind of information you were looking for, but it might be, and no one else replied, so...

I'm doing an online program at www.apu.edu

Check it out, it's pretty good. You can do an online program while you're still here in Korea.

Check out the FAST TRAIN Program at George Mason University in Virginia. I'm in the middle of it right now. It is only partly online - you attend class each summer for five weeks. You can do full on elementary education or ESL, but the elementary program is much more useful.

P.S.

I just remembered that I was talking to the principal of the international school I do field work at here in Seoul and I mentioned that I attended GMU. He told me that there is actually a university in Korea that does a graduate course in Education fully in English. I'm not sure of the details or exactly what degrees are offered, but if you're interested I can ask next week.
