Why in the hell aren't there any groups here in Korea that actually care about animals? It seems that the majority of Korean don't give two shits about animals unless it is some small dog dressed in stupid clothes that they take with them on the subway. What about the disgusting spectacle that is the Seoul Zoo? What about the barbaric practice of torture on thousands upon thousands of dogs just to increase the adrenaline? Why can't Korean wake up and actually realize that everything is connected on this planet...everything is symbiotic. They(Koreans) are disgusting in their lack of regard for everything that doesn't resemble them. Fortunately, there is a special place in Hell that awaits...... |

Well, for one thing, there really aren't that many animals in Korea.
Secondly, there are very few animals here that Koreans won't eat.
And by the way, I don't really care about animals, either. Am I going to hell, too (even though I'm not Korean)? |

Wishmaster,
There are indeed animal rights groups in Korea.
They are just fighting an uphill battle as they are new arrivals on the political scene.
Animal rights here is in its infancy (much like it was back home when the environment/animal protection movement started).
It takes time.
However

This has been discussed before and perhaps you should reserve the same outrage and anger towards poultry and cattle farmers back home as they raise their product in equally cruel conditions.
Also,

Very cute.
I think that there will be a long line up in hell if you indict people on the basis that you just did.. |

I'd like to see more animal rights groups here, too, but everything needs to start somewhere and animals rights isn't the highest priority here, yet. I'll be happy when it is.
Just a little story, though. During the summer camp of my last hakwon, they thought it would be fun to involve animals in two events. The first one involved putting the fish in a fenced-in area in a stream and having kids catch them with their hands. I didn't mind this so much, except that they left the fish out in the sun to die without even the intention of eating them.
The second event was a chicken catching event. I was not present or I would've said a word or two here, but my two colleagues told me about it. The kids were hitting the chickens (kids are mean everywhere)...and even worse, the main director was actually kicking the chickens into the pen. Literally kicking them.
I guess the same stuff probably happens in my country too, though. |

Because animals are there to sustain mankind and must be consumed. |

Is your owner treating you fairly?

I agree. But they still feel pain, are usually grossly unhealthy to eat and are completely unnecessary for a healthy diet. |
