You are aware that they do not hold regional accreditation - puts them in the same league as U of Phoenix and some of the degree mills (only available in the US).

I surprised to hear you would rank them up as high as U of Phoenix. |

I have heard they don't hold regional accreditation, which is definitely a drawback. Having said that, I think publishing is more important than anything when it comes to getting university positions back home, so not having regional accreditation doesn't immediately disqualify it in my mind.
But also they are a 'for profit' university which is also a big drawback . . . So thats two serious drawbacks already. That Korea University PhD program is looking better already. |

U of Phoenix does however offer a very decent online program for teacher certification. |

If one gets to be a certified teacher through the U of Phoenix is it looked upon as a joke or is it the real deal? |

One would get certified in Arizona and have to meet that State's requirements. How tranferable this is abroad I am not sure. |

I've never heard of a prospective employer turning down prospective employees because their licensing was only in Arizona. Once your licensed in one state its not too difficult to be licensed in another state. |

Is it a lot of work to get certified because I don't want to work that much.
And will my years of teaching overseas count towards anything with it?
The less I have to do and pay the better. |

Your degree, in this case Ph.D., granting institution DOES INFLUENCE your employment potential, here, in N. America, and anywhere else for that matter. If you're not a graduate of an accredited university, and I don't care how many publications you have, your CV goes in the bin. |

I'm not exactly a fan of for-profit higher ed, but University of Phoenix is regionally accredited by the HLC (Higher Learning Commission). Anaheim, as you say, is not regionally accredited and so probably best avoided. |
