All of my kindergarten kids come in every morning doing the dance and singing. I think it's wildly inappropriate (and it's grates on my nerves like you wouldn't believe), but apparently their parents don't....

The Beaver's video has been up for over 2 1/2 years.
Psy...2 1/2 months.

So...yeah...you might have to wait a week or two...but it'll get there...no doubt about it.

Dance monkeys dance.

I asked my 5th grade class: What is 어구? (phrase, expression). Then I asked: Is '오빤 강남 스타일', an 어구? Should've seen the face of disapproval from the co-t.

Why? Because you were speaking Korean in the English lesson?

I love this song! It's brilliant! We should all be doing it on the way to work, the way home, when waiting for a bus etc.

I'm fighting a losing battle of tryng run immersion style lessons. First I teach them english used in learning: read this, write that, what does it mean, etc. I had to pull back a little after students responded with a full-scale rebellion. TEE? I've asked them: Do you use violin to study when you go to a piano class? No, but they are adamant that they will not give up speaking Korean in English classes.
I think the disapproval was about using adult-content in a pre-pubescent classroom.

Oppa'n Gangnam Style!

It's not 오빠 강남 스타일. It's 오빤 (as in 오빠는) 강남 스타일.

I will have to check into this. Everyone I have taked to says Oppa not Oppan. I have been hearing this a lot from other foreigners but I am going to ask the Koreans.

I approve this message with good authority.

'는' is never a verb itself as opposed to 'to be,' yet the way abbreviation works in spoken Korean is almost identical in this case.

Similarly, '나는(I am)' becomes '난(I'm)' and '너는(You are)' becomes '넌(You're)'. 오빠 in this particular context is simply 'I' in third-person, an expression reserved for where the listener is a (close or intimate) younger female. Hence 'I'm Gangnam style' is the best translation.

Many who have no idea of Korean hear - Open Condom Style.
Could very well be the reason for it.

I wouldn't listen to them re: Korean.
Case in point - the misuse of 외국(인)

It's a contraction, just like in English (ex. I am --> I'm), informal and not used in formal writing. There are a lot of them and it takes a while getting used to hearing it.
