Got round number 2 today. Yesterday's gift was from the school to all teachers. Today, all teachers got gifts that the parents paid for. This one is useful for me. It is a nice 3 pc. glass Lock&Lock storage container set. Woohoo, no more searching through mismatched lids and containers from that cheap IKEA set that I currently have. Now, if only I can keep my wife from putting stinky tofu or whatever weird thing in these.

The 9 day vacation has officially started as well. Very Happy

Got a 50000 Shinsegae gift certificate from my boss. That's it.

That's what I got too, only for W100,000.

Me too! Two 50s, actually. I had no idea those things were so useful, since it's my first time getting them. My hagwon last year gave a bottle of wine, and I got a pen wrapped in fancy ribbon from a student.

Does anyone know where the Lotte gift certificates can be used? I've been poring over the back of the certificate and investigating as well as I can on Lotte's website, but since none of that has an English version and none of it is immediately recognizable as a list of places to use it at, I have no idea.

What I mainly want to know is if they can be used at Lotte Super even if they are labeled Lotte Dept Store. Those are two separate subsidiaries, but if they are anything like the Shinsegae card, they should work, right?

I believe I got a big box of oyster mushrooms last year. Can't see myself getting anything this year because I'm not at my main school this week, but that's fine by me. I don't particularly like getting gifts for nothing

I have a full time public school job. I've worked for the district for 6 years and never got a present. Well actually, one year they gave me a present, but then they called my cell after I'd left and asked me to return it, because it was for a Korean teacher.

I also work part-time at a hogwon. They have always given me a holiday present.

In the two years I worked full time at hogwons they also gave me holiday presents.

The EPIK program sure makes it's teachers feel valued! There's some cultural experience for you.

I got jack squat, but I don't really care because I don't want a spam gift set or cooking oil gift set or box of peaches anyways.
