You're supposed to be adults now act like one, this aint college anymore

That's pretty funny. Where in the grown up adult world would you ever see a blanket ban on alcohol at a conference? Except in the Arab world.

Here now, it's the last night. Small group of 100 folks.

The lectures were more varied this time around. No craziness went on at night.

The one I went to, they trashed the rooms, skipped the meetings, and if they did come, they were hungover and slept during everything. T

Heh, you got off easy. At least there were no fire extinguisher fights in the hallways or people stumbling into your room to throw up in the sink, bathtub or floor...anywhere but the toilet.

When did you go to GEPIK orientation that it was that bad?

I believe it was in 2008...though it wasn't a GEPIK orientation but an EPIK one.

Alcohol was allowed back then and people took full advantage of it. The resort was only 1-2 km from a town and pretty much most people headed downtown after the resort lectures.

So you learned a great deal or was it a review?

Big difference since EPIK orientation was the first thing you did right off the plane while GEPIK orientation was usually held after you'd been in Korea for 6-11 months, or longer. Yes, GEPIK has been known to force teachers to attend orientation during their last month in Korea. Has it changed?

Waste of time.

If you took the ITTT tefl course offered by footprints you already know everything they taught and then some.

If it isn't 100% mandatory that you attend, I would give it a miss.

Also there's no booze.

I wouldn't say you learned a whole great deal. I picked up some lesson planning ideas and some activities I could use, and just a reminder of some things I used to know in terms of controlling the class and co-teaching that I remembered again.

Like some info was repeated in some lectures again, so it got boring at times. Whatever, I got 3 days off school.
