I've been told by my Public school that i have to go to the EPIK/SMOE orientation in Hyehwa (Seoul) Oct 22-26.
I'm new to teaching in Public school but i have been in Korea for a few years already. Will everyone there be newbies, or will there be people like me (having been in Korea for a few years)?
Roughly what percentage of newbies to longtermers will it be?
I've been told it's an overnight stay. Is that very strict? If one just turns up for the lectures will that suffice? I have other stuff to do in the evenings and would rather sleep at home too.
Any information from those who did this course would be great. Thank you. |

No you can't leave - they attach a bracelet around your wrist (kind of concert style), if you leave the grounds an alarm is activated.
This is to stop people sneeking off and drinking off site and causing problems.....
If you ask for special permission, they might let you leave, if you finish your evening assignments BEFORE you leave...... |

Lucas, if we were back in the real world i'd know you were taking the mickey (with the tagging of adults).
But this being Korea i wouldn't be surprised if what you said was actually true.
As for the accomodation, what kind of facilites are there? (TV, computer, en suite, gym, etc?) |
