Ah! Yeah, that's mine. One of the serial numbers on the bills ends with the letter E, right?

Does your friend work with anyone new who doesn't have a bank account yet? Someone who may be paid under the table, in cash?

This is all too strange.

My friend is not a teacher.

Yes, it is. The shock was not finding the money but that it somehow got in their bag in the first place and they didn't notice it.

Right! Just send me your bank card and pin number so I can deposit the money and then return it to you Wink

2 million won isn't exactly a large sum of money, but it could mean something to someone. Your 'friend' doesn't know how they came by the money, no where. Sit on it, wait a few months, then keep it IMHO. For that small sum, I wouldn't involve the police unless you had specifics (and you don't).

One issue: Is it cash or 'supyo' (checks)? If the money is in 100,000 won check form, those numbers can be traced. If 'your friend' really wants to find out the owner of the funds, they could therefor go through the issuing bank.

Cash? Sit on it. Then buy everyone on the board a beer or three.

If you hand it to the police and no one claim I believe it belong to the person that found it.

Ok, I know someone who recently found a large quantity of money in their bag. How it got there is a mystery and they can't fathom how it ended up in their bag nor when it could have been put (dropped) there.

It's in one of those bank envelopes (Bank's name is given) but there is no other way to track the owner.

So, what advice would you give?

Keep the money or hand it into the police?

Are you guys totally out of your minds crazy?

You going to take a big wad of unidentified cash that appeared in your bag out of nowhere (I find this hard to comprehend) and give it to some random police guy in the foreign country where you are residing?

Dude what the heck.

If I heard someone had lost it or it occurred to me where it came from then I would give it to the person(s) otherwise the rule of finders keepers takes effect.
