Hey, is anyone out there a Retro gamer? I've been really nostalgic for the good ole days of 8 bit and 16 bit awesomeness(some 32 bit stuff also snuck it's way into my brain too). So much so that I bought a PSP just to run emulators and play my favorite games and discover new ones. I still really would love to own some original consoles and carts, however it's probably impossible to get any in Korea. Also, I would imagine that buying them from the US/Canada would be cost prohibitive. Ohh well.
Let's use this thread to discuss some great games of yesteryear. Let's talk about youtube videos/channels that are about retro gaming. Or even discuss the availability of hardware in Korea.
I'll get it started. I have been playing Super Metroid for the SNES lately. I'm nearly finished with it. I must say that it is an amazing game. After finishing it I want to move on to something a little less involved, something like a Mario game or a Sonic game. Then I'll get into a super involved game again later, maybe The Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger.[/i] |

You'd be surprised at stuff you can find in the Gamer's Alley at Yongsan. Some of those shops sell a lot of old consoles and games.
I just play my ROMs on a Nintendo DS. |

Thanks for the reminder. I placed my order for the upcoming NeoGeo X Limited. I kept forgetting to do that! |

I've got a cheap Acer tablet that runs emulators, has an HD output and connects to the Wii classic controller via Bluetooth. I could easily fit the entire library of just about every 8 and 16 bit system on it. Now I just need more time.
I recently went through Megaman X, X2 and X3 again. Great games. I've had the best order to fight the bosses memorized for over a decade. It's also interesting to see how my reflexes have deteriorated over the years. |

Is that the place to pick up a Super NES? I've been meaning to acquire one of those lately. |

I was wondering the same thing when he mentioned this store.
I know Korea had a version of the SNES called the Super Gam*Boy (I think that's how it was written?) I've asked numerous Koreans about it and they all have vague recollections of it, but nobody ever had one. I'm curious what kind of carts it played. |

I never got into the Megaman games. It always bugged me that you couldn't shoot up, down or at an angle. I have them all on my PSP and maybe I'll get to them someday. |

While the Megaman topic is going, I'll suggest going mad retro and checking out Megaman 2.
Plus, the bonus weapons allow you to do all the crazy shiz like shoot in diagonals and all. |

Megaman 2 also has the best music of any videogame ever. |

Has anyone ever watched Angry Video Game Nerd or Classic Game Room HD on YouTube? I like the newer AVGN episodes because the productions are a bit more eloborate. His act gets a little repetitive after a while, but he makes some good points about games. CGRHD is also fun. His videos are a lot less structured, but I really enjoy his sense of humor.
Also, can anyone recommend an older sports game? I fell that most sports games don't hold up well over time. One of the only old sports games that I think holds up well is Ice Hockey for the NES. It's still a great game. |

If you're talking NES I was hooked on Tecmo Bowl for a while. Not really a sports gamer but I feel that the SNES offered better fare there. Straightforward gameplay, just enough flash. |
