Hi everyone,

I came to Korea as a tourist and have a visa waiver that's valid for 90 days. Well, my 90 days will be up by the end of November but I'd like to stay longer.

Is it true that if I go out of the country and come back again, I'll get another 90 days stay?

If so, for anyone who's done this before, how much does it generally cost? I guess Japan is the closest option.

This is what my mother in law does who has lived with us for 3 years.

She takes a ferry from Incheon to Weihai, China. The visa cost $50 and a ferry ticket about $220. There is a small $10 tax you have to pay in China using Chineses money. She does it every 3 months.

She gets 30 days when arriving in Korea and then a 60 day extension for 30,000 won at the immegration office.

It's kind of a schlepp but it's the only way she can stay since there is no mother in law visa for foreigners with an E2.

RT on the HydroJet is about $200. there are packages that include a night in a hotel. However, you can catch the next ferry after 2 hours.

A day trip to Daemado "Tsushima" is a good option for a visa extension. Take the ferry from Busan, stay there for 4 hours and take the ferry back. Easy and cheap. If you take the KTX from Seoul it can be done in a day.

I lived in Korea for 3 years on 6 month tourist visas(Canada). I was sure that they'd start asking questions, but they never did. I'd fly or take the ferry to Japan every 5 months or so. Kept getting new tourist visas on arrival.
