I've been offered a public school job in Yesan, but the problem is, I can't find much about it. Anybody know anything about it and living there? |

You are 1 hour west of a city named Asan. That city has a couple of local bars and 2 smaller universities around there. Keep going east and you run into Cheonan. Yesan is a very rural city, and there aren't many foreign amenities out there. The best thing about the area is that it is close to the driver's license registration place, and also very close to a Spa resort called Dogo paradise.
Good luck and enjoy your time out there |

There's a university in (or very close to) Yesan - I met someone who worked around there a while back. |

I've been there. It's rural, but it's also an old market town, with old fashioned narrow streets, bustling with traders. It has a soccer team in the 2nd division. That indicates the town has aspirations to greatness. I'd say it's a chance to experience what an old Korea was like. |

It's really small and a bit rundown, but it has character. It's pretty easy to get into Seoul on the ktx if you need to get away on the weekend. (I lived a town over in my first contract).
It is a place where you can certainly learn about old Korea.
I remember wanting to go back and visit with my camera, there were so many interesting shots of rickety old streets and stuff.
I got a good feeling from the place. |
